This policy is about helping everyone understand what supported decision making is, and how we can better support people with disability to make decisions in the NDIS.

Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031 outlines a vision for a more inclusive and accessible Australian society where all people with disability can fulfil their potential as equal members of the community.

The policy outlines our commitment to support people with disability who engage with the NDIS to create or expand safeguards to improve their safety and minimise the risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an agency subject to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) and is required to comply with the Information Publication Scheme (IPS) requirements. This IPS Agency Plan describes how the NDIA proposes to do this.
