Western Australians with disability will benefit from an investment of more than $88 million to deliver frontline services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Federal Minister for Families and Social Services Paul Fletcher and Western Australian Minister for Disability Services, Stephen Dawson today announced Mission Australia and Advanced Personnel Management as the NDIS Partners in the Community.
Mr Fletcher said Mission Australia and Advanced Personnel Management (APM) will deliver local services expected to reach about 39,000 Western Australians with permanent and significant disability when NDIS reaches full-scheme.
"The transition to the NDIS from state and territory services represents a major change," Mr Fletcher said.
"The scheme gives people the opportunity to identify their goals and support needs, and to have choice and control over the services they need to help them to live an independent life.
"In delivering the scheme's Local Area Coordination Services (LAC), Mission Australia and APM will support people to implement their NDIS plans and access supports in their local communities," Mr Fletcher said.
Western Australian Minister for Disability Services, Stephen Dawson said it was vital that WA's transition to the NDIS was done right.
"The NDIS is the most significant social reform of our time and we need to ensure that it works for Western Australians," Mr Dawson said.
"This significant investment into Western Australia is not just good news for people with disability, their families and carers, it's also good news for the WA economy.
"The WA Government is committed to supporting people with disability throughout this critical period of change and transformation in WA."
APM will deliver LAC Services in the service areas of North Metro, Central South Metro, South Metro, South West, Great Southern and the Inner Wheatbelt.
Mission Australia will deliver LAC Services across the service areas of Central North Metro, South East Metro and North East Metro.
The NDIA will deliver local area coordination services for the remaining WA regions of Kimberley, Pilbara, Midwest-Gascoyne, Goldfields, Esperance and Outer Wheatbelt.
Mission Australia and APM are expected to commence LAC services from January 2019.
