What plan-managed funding is
Plan-managed funding is when your NDIS funding is managed by a plan manager.
Plan managers can take care of payments and record keeping for your NDIS supports.
Plan managers can also help you to build confidence and skills to manage the funding in your plan.
You’re given funding for a plan manager
You’ll get funding in your NDIS plan to pay a plan manager to work with you if your NDIS support budgets are plan-managed.

Tip: You can ask for a plan manager to help you at any time during your plan.
You can ask us to change your plan management type if you’re not plan-managed at the start of your plan, but think you may want these services. Talk to your my NDIS contact if you want to become plan-managed.
What plan-managed funding is for
How your plan is managed doesn’t limit your choices about how to use your NDIS funding.
You can still choose the providers you want to deliver your NDIS supports when you have plan-managed funding. You can choose providers who are registered or unregistered.
When you have a plan manager, they’ll:
- keep records of your NDIS supports, like invoices and receipts
- use the NDIS portals to pay providers from your plan
- give you a report of how you spend your NDIS funding
- help you build your plan management skills.
What having plan-management is like
Your plan manager must be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and be recorded as a my provider for your plan.
You decide what your plan manager can access about you and your plan in the provider portals. We’ll ask your consent for what you want them to access when we talk to you about your plan.
Your responsibilities
If you have a plan manager, you’re still responsible for:
- knowing how much of your funding you've spent and only buying NDIS supports in line with your plan
- choosing your providers, including choosing your plan manager
- authorising claims
- making a service agreement with your plan manager
- managing the services you get and the relationship you have with your plan manager. You need to talk to your plan manager to resolve any issues if you’re unhappy with them.
