The Australian Government has announced a new strategy designed to ensure First Nations people living with disability receive the culturally safe and accessible support they need through the NDIS.

The Australian Government has today announced the appointment of El Gibbs and Dougie Herd as the two co-chairs of the newly formed NDIS Reform Advisory Committee. These appointments continue to strengthen the lived and professional experience in key leadership roles in the NDIS.

The Australian Government has announced two appointments to the NDIA Board and five appointments to the NDIS Independent Advisory Council (IAC). These appointments bolster the number of people with disability and bring strong lived and professional experience into key leadership positions for the NDIS.

NDIS participants are leaving hospital faster than ever before, thanks to improvements made by the Australian Government. NDIS Minister, the Hon. Bill Shorten MP, said the significant reductions were the result of the Australian Government’s dedication to putting people back at the centre of the Scheme.

The Government is ensuring the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is fairer, easier to navigate and person-centred with fresh investments in planning for all participants and commencing design work towards a new early intervention pathway for children under 9.

The Government has announced $280 million in funding for the NDIA to develop a more consistent approach to understanding participants’ needs for NDIS supports and $4.527 million over 2 years for the Agency to design a new early childhood pathway to better support children younger than 9 years old.
