Making pricing recommendations
We have a key role in market stewardship across disability support markets, along with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission.
NDIS prices need to be fair, based on evidence and sustainable so participants continue to have access to high-quality supports.
Each year we undertake a detailed analysis called the annual pricing review. This work assesses NDIS prices based on a range of factors, including supply and demand in the market, prices in other markets, wage rates, and broader economic factors. We then make pricing recommendations on what changes, if any, are required.
The pricing updates page explains recent changes in pricing guidance, and how they might affect participants, their families and carers.
We regularly release market monitoring reports to assist stakeholders to understand market trends and quarterly reports on the performance of the NDIS.
Update:
On 14 May 2026, the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 was introduced into Parliament. The Bill proposes to provide the Minister for the NDIS with the power to make a pricing determination. Learn more about the Bill.
3-year pricing workplan
The 3-year pricing workplan sets out a program for pricing improvements designed to ensure NDIS markets are able to deliver high-quality, sustainable supports participants.

Key initiatives
There are a number of pricing initiatives outlined out in the workplan.
These include:
Annual pricing review
The annual pricing review (APR) is a yearly check done by us to make sure prices for NDIS supports are appropriate and reasonable.
This is based on a range of factors, including supply and demand in the market, prices in other markets, wage rates, and broader economic factors.
The APR is also informed by public and market consultation.
Learn more about the APR.
Pricing Arrangement Reference Group
We have an independent Pricing Arrangement Reference Group to provide advice on price arrangements to support the best possible outcomes for participants.
Learn more about the group’s terms of reference and current members on the Pricing Arrangement Reference Group page.
Independent Pricing Committee
The NDIA established the Independent Pricing Committee (IPC) in September 2024 to review the NDIS pricing approaches. The IPC finished their work in June 2025.
