The Self-Management Advisory Group (SMAG) met for the second time online on Thursday 3 April 2025.
The Co-Chairs, Ms Laura Wilkinson, NDIA General Manager, Service Design and Ms Sam Paior, Independent Advisory Council member, welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Ms Wilkinson introduced herself as the new NDIA Co-Chair, replacing Ms Prue Coroneos, NDIA General Manager Policy, and Practice Leadership.
Focus of the meeting
The meeting covered:
- A discussion about Self-Management data
- An update from the Fraud Fusion Taskforce
- A presentation on Crack Down on Fraud
- A discussion on how the Agency can better engage with self-managers.
Self-Management data
The NDIA led a discussion with members around the publicly available data about self-management, gaps and next steps.
Fraud Fusion Taskforce
Ms Kitsa Papadopoulos, NDIA General Manager Fraud Fusion Taskforce and Integrity Capability Division, led a session highlighting integrity initiatives being undertaken by the Agency and what they will mean for self-managers.
Crack Down on Fraud
Mr Martin Mane, NDIA General Manager Integrity Transformation Division, gave an update on the Crack Down on Fraud Program.
The presentation included an overview of the process of streamlining pre-payment rejection of claims that are not in accordance with the NDIS Act.
Member discussion focused on the supporting letters participants receive regarding payment rejections and how they could potentially be improved.
Self-management engagement
The NDIA led a discussion on priorities for public-facing education and engagement with self-managers.
Members explored potential options for information sessions and other activities for the NDIA’s community engagement teams to facilitate for self-managers in 2025.

The SMAG will next meet online on 19 March 2025.
