From 19 October 2026, the full amount of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding a participant is eligible for will be included in their NDIS plan when it is approved.
The full amount will appear whether the participant is living in SDA or looking for an SDA home. This does not change how SDA eligibility decisions are made or the amount of SDA funding a participant is eligible for.
Most participants do not need to do anything. Participants who currently have a $1 placeholder, or less than their full eligible amount, will have their funding updated at their next plan reassessment.
Participants moving into an SDA home may be able to have their funding updated earlier by submitting a change of circumstances. Participants must tell the NDIA when they move into a new SDA home.
There is no change to how providers claim SDA funding.
The change will make SDA funding easier to access, reduce delays and support more efficient claiming processes.
