Autism Advisory Group Meeting February 2025

The Autism Advisory Group (AAG) met on 18 February 2025 for the first meeting of the year. 
The meeting was held online.

Focus of the meeting

The focus of the February meeting was improving the NDIS Access Pathway.

Improving the NDIS Access Pathway 

The NDIA provided an update about Improving the NDIS Access Pathway. The presentation included discussion on:

  • Whether the proposed goals cover the most important issue for the Autism community when accessing the NDIS:  
    • Better definitions
    • Consistent decision making
    • Checking if early intervention is working
    • Clear understanding of information requirements
    • Improved information collection process
    • Improve accessibility
    • Improve engagement and transparency
    • Streamline processes.
  • Are the draft design principles the right principles for us to focus on to help us improve the NDIS access pathway:
    • Principle 1: Is clear and based on evidence
    • Principle 2: Uses existing information and relationships with treating professionals where relevant
    • Principle 3: Recognises and respects the role of families, carers, and important people in their lives
    • Principle 4: Has protections that make sure the individual’s rights are respected and dignity is upheld.
