The NDIA has partnered with KPMG Australia to conduct a review of the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Design Standard.
This review will ensure new build SDA design requirements stay aligned with industry standards and provide quality and safe SDA homes to support the needs of NDIS participants eligible for SDA.
Why your feedback matters
As part of the review, participants, their families and carers, support workers and SDA experts such as builders, developers and SDA providers will have the opportunity to share their feedback and expertise.
Your feedback is essential to understanding how SDA design requirements may need to be updated. We value your feedback, and it will be an important part of this process.
How to get involved
Consultation sessions are planned for late 2025. A discussion paper to guide your feedback will be available soon.
SDA stakeholders will have the chance to share their SDA experiences in these ways:
- participating in virtual consultation sessions
- providing a submission in response to the discussion paper
- completing an online survey (SDA providers)
- participants living in SDA may be invited to take part in a home visit.
If you want to be involved, you can register your interest .
Next steps
Regular updates on the SDA Design Standard Review will be published on our website and in future NDIS newsletters. If you have any questions about the review, email the KPMG team.
