The Autism Advisory Group (AAG) met 17 December 2024 for the sixth meeting this year. The meeting was held online.
Focus of the meeting
The December meeting covered:
- Impairment Notices
- Assessment and Budgeting
- Update on new Guidelines working group
Impairment Notices
The NDIA provided an introduction to changes in impairment notices from 1 January 2025.
Discussion Points
The Notice of Impairments will tell people the which categories of impairments were used to meet the access requirements.
From 1 January 2025 new participants will be told which impairment category or categories were used to meet access requirements.
Assessment and Budgeting
The NDIA gave a presentation on the approach to selecting needs assessment tools.
Discussion Points
The Assessment and Budgeting Initiative has been established to work with the disability community to develop the new assessment and budgeting approach for new framework planning.
New framework plans will be simplified, including a flexible budget and any stated supports.
Update on new Guidelines working group
Prue Coroneos General Manager, Policy, Evidence and Practice Leadership provided an update to AAG members about the first meeting of a working group established to support implementation of the new national guidelines.
