NDIA recognised for commitment to disability employment
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) was acknowledged for its commitment to disability employment at an awards ceremony in Canberra this week.
The 2017 Australian Public Service Diversity and Gender Equality Award recognises outstanding contributions to workplace diversity across the public service.
The NDIA was awarded in the department or agency category for making a significant contribution and progress towards improving employment opportunities, experiences and outcomes for people with disability.
The Agency currently has 14.4 per cent of staff identifying as having a disability. Kathryn Harris, NDIA spokesperson, said the award is a great achievement for the Agency.
The NDIA is proud to raise awareness of what's possible and help others in the Australian Public Service or the private sector to rethink their approach to recruitment and try new strategies.
The NDIA continues to work on improving the experience of people with disability in the Agency, as well as implementing inclusive recruitment approaches for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and LGBTI people.
