NDIS Participant information following changes to the SCHADS Award

The National Disability Insurance Agency would like to invite participants, their families and support networks to an information session focused on changes to the SCHADS Award.

From July 1 the Fair Work Commission changed the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS Award) Award, raising minimum engagement periods applying to casual and part-time home care workers from one hour to two hours.

From 1 July 2022, price limits for all NDIS supports delivered by disability support workers increased by 9 per cent. The price limit increase takes into account changes to costs to deliver supports as a result of the ongoing impact of COVID-19, investment in quality and safeguards, the introduction of a minimum shift and broken shift allowance for workers, and the Fair Work Commission’s increase in the Superannuation Guarantee Charge.

Information provided at these sessions will cover and clarify what participants need to know about these changes, and provide explinations on Provider obligations when delivering supports to NDIS participants following the changes to SCHADS Award.

This session will also cover questions such as “what to do if you are concerned your provider is doing the wrong thing?”  and “what if your provider insists that you have to pay for a minimum two hour shift?”

Registration is through Eventbrite, please read our advice on using the Eventbrite platform located on the NDIS website: Privacy | NDIS .
